Gift Aid currently enables registered charity to claim back from the government 28p for every £1 donated to it at no extra cost to the donor
While there are some rules and regulations governing this it is basically a very simple procedure. In order to ensure we maximise from your donation all you need to do is sign a Gift Aid declaration which we hold on file and all your future donations will be eligible for us to claim against. Any current UK tax payer can ask that their donation to a registered charity is gift aided. The charity will then automatically claim it back on their behalf. They need to do nothing more. Gift Aid and sponsored fundraising
To enable someone who is completing a sponsored event to maximise their sponsorship anyone sponsoring your fundraising efforts (and is a current UK tax payer) can tick the gift aid box on your sponsorship form and we will do the rest when we get your form.
They must however ensure that the address they enter on the form is their home address and it must have their post code. We cannot claim if they put a "care-off" work address so keep an eye on that. They must also ensure that their surname is included and at least one initial.
This also applies to donations/sponsorships through JustGiving.com but they will be prompted on screen as they go through the donation/sponsorship process
NB: However if you were to personally make a donation towards your challenge/event sponsorship we would not under present rules be able to claim Gift Aid on that donation.
