OAKHAVEN HOSPICE PRESS RELEASEApril 9th 2008 The Everton 10K Road Race was revived after several years in 2001 by the committee of three. Keith Mitchell, Liz Everard and Graham West. In 2002 they decided to revive the Keyhaven 5 Mile Race, which had also lapsed. Many causes have benefited from these races, from Girl Guides, Sea Scouts,Twinklers Parent & Toddler Group and the Milford Youth Club. Support has also been given to Oakhaven Hospice and the St John Ambulance, taking the donations over £8,000.00. Local companies have also shown their support by sponsorships, thus enabling the committee to donate the maximum amount to the charities. This year it has been decided to continue the support of Oakhaven Hospice, and to also to give a " top up " donation to previous recipients. This years races are :
Notes for Editors: Oakhaven Hospice supports not only at the Hospice but also out in the community. Our services are always free of charge. We support over 120 patients weekly and our Community Team make 2,500 home visits and telephone contacts each year. Our Bereavement team makes in excess of 1,600 contacts with the community every year while the Day Hospice has more than 1,200 attendances by patients annually.
