OAKHAVEN HOSPICE PRESS RELEASE
25th April 2005
Local Society Raises Funds
Representatives from the South Avon & Stour Agricultural Society visited Oakhaven Hospice this week to present a gift of £500.00, which was raised by members through a variety of activities, including an annual Clay Pigeon Shoot. Part of the gift also comprised donations in memory of Colin Williams, the former treasurer of the Society, who was a committed supporter of Oakhaven.
Martin Attwell is Chairman of the Society, which aims to support the development of agriculture and promote best practice in order to sustain a vibrant rural economy. He commented, "We are pleased to be able to make this gift to the Hospice and appreciate the valuable service that Oakhaven provides for our community."
Oakhaven Hospice is a community-based service, caring for over 120 patients with complex needs and their families each week. It costs £2 million per year to run the Hospice, only 21% of which is funded by the NHS.
