OAKHAVEN HOSPICE PRESS RELEASE

July 2006

LORD NELSON CYCLOCRUZE

The Lord Nelson Charity Cycle Ride “The Cyclocruze” round The Isle of Wight took place on July 1st/2nd for the 23rd year running.  During this time, they have raised in excess of £100,000 for many deserving charities and this year their chosen charities were Oakhaven Hospice and Jubilee Sailing Trust.

The cyclists set-off from Hythe Village early on Saturday morning and were taken by chartered ferry to Cowes.  Having completed the first day covering 43 miles, the riders stayed overnight in St Helen’s and enjoyed a karoke party at “The Vine” hosted by the new landlords Paul & Sarah Edmonds, Kath Crosbie and Jeff Ledicott.

Sunday saw the cyclists complete the final 20 miles before returning to The Lord Nelson pub in Hythe, welcomed home by landlords Bobsie & Pat O’Hara with a well deserved BBQ and cold Sangria.
