Rochelle’s Story

Thinking back to five years ago, I was 33 and my mummy was 63, she was just diagnosed with secondary cancer of the bones, life changed forever........

Time stood still whilst we hoped and prayed for a cure, but it was not to be. As a family we were privileged and blessed to encounter Oakhaven Hospice.

Throughout my beloved Mother’s incredible but short journey in Oakhaven, she was treated with dignity, love and a care that went beyond anything ever imaginable. In our eyes, Oakhaven was and is a very special harmonious place, offering the very best attention to the ‘whole family’s’ needs, during a deeply difficult and distressing time in life.

Each one of the 25 days spent at Oakhaven was very precious to us, as we were clearly on borrowed time. This unique experience has left us with a huge desire to continue to support the hospice, so that many others can benefit in the same way that we did.

My Mother passed peacefully away and left us with wonderful memories, however we did need help to come to terms with the loss and Oakhaven were there every step of the way too. For this and many other reasons, thank you.
