NEW! Qigong classes at the Coates Centre
Are you navigating a life-limiting illness, caring for someone or living with a loss or bereavement?
We are delighted to be adding Qigong classes to our Oakhaven Wellbeing calendar, proving you with another way to live well.
Qigong is a simple and ancient Chinese practice. Through a combination of slow steady and flowing movements, calm breathing and intentional mental focus, it enables us to nourish and balance the body’s natural energy flows. This helps us find vitality, inner strength and emotional balance and lets us navigate life’s challenges with resilience and adaptability. It is a practice that people of all ages and physical abilities can embrace.
Course teacher, Maggie, became fascinated with Qigong nearly 10 years ago through traditional yoga then Kundalini Yoga and then the principles of Chinese Medicine. She trained in Scotland at the Samye Ling Buddhist Monastery with Bob Lowey, and other senior international tutors, and continues to develop her practice daily.
Maggie says: "My husband passed away from cancer in the beginning of 2023 and my Qigong practice helped support me through many stages of his illness and my life over the last ten years. The Chinese character for Qi expresses so many things, but in Qigong we recognise it as meaning the energy flow that animates all living beings and can be guided in our bodies to where we need it. The word Gong means to practice or work."
A free taster session will be held on Wednesday 18th February from 10am to 11am, in the Coates Centre at Oakhaven - places are limited to 15 for this, so please sign up using the form below.
