Our trained Oakhaven counsellors offer support to those patients and families that might find it helpful to talk through some of the emotional difficulties of their illness.
We have a Chaplain who leads a team of chaplaincy volunteers. The inpatient unit is visited every day by a member of the team and chaplaincy volunteers also attend the Day Care Unit. During Day Care there is a short service in the chapel which a chaplaincy volunteer leads. The chapel is a beautiful and serene place. It is for use by anyone of any faith or none. It is a space where patients, family and friends can find peace and quiet at any time of day or night. Services of Holy Communion, Services of Prayer and Meditation and special Services to remember are held in the chapel. The Chaplain or a volunteer also conduct services at the bedside.
Support can be offered with funeral arrangements and a chaplain is available to conduct funerals.
Oakhaven Hospice Trust welcomes everyone – whatever their beliefs– and people are encouraged to feel free to express their spirituality or practice their religion in their own way.
