Education and Learning

A row of books

PLEASE NOTE: (February 2021)

Virtual Learning

Whilst we are in Lockdown, the Oakhaven Education team have decided to provide many of our teaching sessions in a virtual format.

Our programme is a little different at the moment but we are working hard to provide as much education as we can in the present circumstances.

This page describes the full list of courses that we run, but does not provide any dates.  If you are  interested in finding out more about present availability we will be very happy to help you and advise current availability.

Please note - not all our sessions are available as virtual learning sessions but those that are will be marked accordingly.

Please contact the Education Department on 01590 646445 or e-mail education@oakhavenhospice.co.uk.

We look forward to hearing from you.

Covid Safety Precautions:

Oakhaven has thoroughly risk assessed for Covid-19 safety precautions for visitors to the Coates Centre.

A copy of our Risk Assessment is freely available, together with a full list of the measures we have currently put in place.  A copy of both documents are forwarded to all delegates when booking on to a session.

Oakhaven's approach to learning

Oakhaven’s approach to education is that knowledge is best shared. We welcome support from other specialties and clinical colleagues to further our knowledge and improve patient care.

We also provide a thorough education programme to support clinical colleagues in providing good quality end of life care.

We can also arrange bespoke training for providers should you wish.

If you’d like to learn more or have any queries please don’t hesitate to call 01590 646445.

Courses

Oakhaven provides the following courses covering a variety of subjects within palliative and end of life care. These courses are available for all healthcare professionals in our community.

We endeavour to make our sessions friendly and informative, with the content being varied and providing a relaxed approach.

During the present circumstances we are now pleased to be able to offer some of our sessions in a virtual format.

We believe education in end of life care is crucial to providing quality patient care. We work closely with all healthcare professionals to improve the quality of palliative and end of life care for our community.

On the “shared knowledge is best” ethos there are no charges for any of the courses other than ACST where there are licencing and other external costs that we incur. We want to make education available to as many people as possible and therefore view it as part of our charitable purpose.

We do not believe cost should be a barrier to accessing education and improving patient care. Should you wish to make a donation to help cover some of the costs they are always gratefully received.

We look forward to welcoming you and your colleagues.

If you are interested in learning more about any of our courses and education sessions, please call us on 01590 646445 or email education@oakhavenhospice.co.uk
