Our department has recently undergone some exciting developments with all the learning and teaching sessions now being provided under the name of the Learning and Research Hub.

New Module Programme
We have also been busy over the last year reformatting our learning and teaching sessions to align with Health Education England for Palliative and End of Life Care learning outcomes.
Our new module programme will began in April 2023 with the launch of our two new Oakhaven Certificate modules:
- Fundamental Skills in Palliative & End of Life Care - RNs
- Core Care in Palliative & End of Life - HCAs & AHPs
We also provide Independent Sessions for both HCA & RN levels. These are ideal for those who wish to attend a specific learning session without the need to attend a whole module of learning and helpful for those needing to update their skills or a refresher. The Independent Sessions are listed below.

Oakhaven's approach to learning
Oakhaven Hospice's rationale to adult learning associated with palliative care and end of life, is to build capacity across the community which Oakhaven Hospice serves. The ambition of Oakhaven Hospice demonstrated by its strategy 'Fit for the Future' is to ensure that Oakhaven Hospice support a shared learning approach with Community Registered Nurses, Doctors and Allied Registered Healthcare Professionals including support workers and HCAs.
Our programme can include bespoke learning and training for external providers.

Modules and Learning Sessions
Oakhaven provides modules and learning sessions covering a variety of subjects within palliative and end-of-life care. These modules and learning sessions are available for all healthcare professionals in our community.
We endeavour to make our modules and learning sessions friendly and informative, with the content aligned to Health Education England utilising a variety of adult learning strategies to ensure a varied learning experience.
We believe education in end-of-life care is crucial to providing quality patient care. We work closely with all healthcare professionals to improve the quality of palliative and end-of-life care for our community.
