Here at Oakhaven Hospice, the north facing gardens surrounding the chapel have been designed to provide an area of tranquillity, quiet benched areas situated within the hedgerow as well sympathetic planting create an area where quiet reflection and relaxation can be obtained.
An additional feature of this area is the ‘Tree of Life’. A bespoke sculpture, representative of an Oak tree which has been crafted by Hampshire based Artist Blacksmith Andy Hopper; this beautiful piece of art will provide a proud and lasting feature within the grounds.
Hot forged from mild steel, nine main stems provide the main structure of the tree these fluid lines reach 8ft in to the air to spread to form the main canopy. From this tapered limbs flow into tapered limbs, giving way to smaller branches and twigs that combine to create this stunning piece of art.
However this sculpture has a dual purpose, not only providing a beautiful and lasting piece of art within the grounds but as a memorial to loved ones.
Bronze oak leaves have been hand crafted and polished so that they can hold an engraved dedication to your loved one. This personalised leaf unique both in markings and message will be placed upon the tree, where it will remain for a time.
These beautiful leaves will provide a memorial to those no longer with us whilst upon the tree and once their time has passed the leaf will be placed within a presentation box and returned to you so that it can provide a lasting keepsake for you to treasure.
