The Widowed Friendship Club (WFC) started 8 years ago to enable widows and widowers who felt ready to start socialising again to do so with people who had an understanding of the different kind of a life we all are now living.
We meet on the first Saturday of every month in the Day Centre at Oakhaven Hospice at 2pm .
You just turn up on the day and for a donation of £2 for Oakhaven you get a drink and a biscuit. More importantly though you are welcomed into the company of fellow widowed people who have all decided that they can begin to enjoy life again.
It is a self-help group and at the meeting we get together to find out what events you and the other group members want to enjoy during the coming month. If you want company to enjoy for example, lunches, dinners, boat trips, wine tasting, walks, theatre visits, strolling round gardens or holidays, then WFC will give you the opportunity to do any of these or maybe it will enable you to meet new friends just to go for a coffee, it is up to you.
You do not have to have had any association with Oakhaven to come along and it doesn’t matter how long ago you were widowed.
We all know how much courage it takes to join in but if you take that first step you can be assured of a warm welcome so why not give it a try.
We get together on the first Saturday of every month from 2pm in the Day Rooms at the Hospice, so just pop in and meet us
