Complementary Therapy Learning Session
Date: Friday 13th September 2024
Time:
Morning theory session from 9.30am – 12.30pm
Afternoon practical session from 1.00pm – 3.00pm.
Attend morning only or full day.
Learning Session Delivery: At the Coates Centre, Oakhaven Hospice, Lower Pennington Lane, Lymington SO41 8ZZ
Learning Session Fee: £40 morning only or £55 for the full day.
Who is this Learning Session suited to? This session will be open to any level of healthcare professional (HCA or RN).
Learning Outcomes:
Morning theory session:
1) Understand how complementary therapy is positioned within a palliative care model.
2) Identify the different complementary therapies on offer and their associated therapeutic benefit.
3) Discuss the difference between Alternative and Complementary Therapy.
4) Identify the contraindications and precautions.
5) Understand the assessment process and decision-making associated with treatment plans.
Afternoon practical session:
1) Identify the skills required to give a simple hand massage for relaxation purposes.
2) Discuss the benefits of hand massage.
3) Experience a simple hand massage.
