Oakhaven's Day Hospice

Our Day Hospice

Our Day Hospice is open four days a week - on Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays - from 10.30 am until 3.30 pm and can welcome up to 12 patients each day. The Day Hospice gives you the opportunity to meet with other patients in a safe and friendly environment, and to share experiences. The Day Hospice is one part of Oakhaven Hospice, which offers practical help and support and a chance to have some time out if you are navigating a life-limiting condition.

We believe in asking what matters to you and making every day count. You can expect excellent care in a caring and supportive atmosphere, and a safe place in which you can discuss any concerns with the team.

The Day Hospice team includes experienced, trained nurses, offering a holistic approach to your individual needs and those of your family or carer. The Day Hospice has close links with your own GP and community nurses.

Do I need to be referred to Day Hospice?

Yes. Referral to the service can be made by your GP, Clinical Nurse Specialist or through your Hospital Team.

Please note

While you are coming to the Day Hospice, you will remain under the care of your usual GP.

Making every moment matter at Day Hospice

The Day Hospice is located in the homely environment of Pennington Chase (the original house connected to the Hospice) and overlooks the beautiful gardens. There is a varied programme of activities on offer which may include art and craft classes, interesting entertainment and trips out. You can enjoy the mutual support and friendship of other patients. The team respect your choices and values.

We have an excellent team of volunteers who support us by helping to serve drinks and meals, chatting and leading the activities and driving you to and from Oakhaven. Members of the therapy team also work with patients in the Day Hospice. Referrals can be made to our counselling service and our Pastoral and Spiritual Care Lead is often on hand for support.

At the Day Hospice, you will be able to enjoy a delicious cooked lunch, made in our kitchen. Dietary needs can be catered for.
