Moment Makers

Regular giving to support Oakhaven

Patients and visitors in Oakhaven's Day Hospice

Every moment matters, especially at the end of someone's life

In giving a regular donation to support Oakhaven Hospice, Oakhaven Moment Makers are giving special and meaningful moments to local people facing death or the death of a loved one. Creating treasured memories in the toughest of times.

Our wonderful supporters are the reason why Oakhaven can support our community in the way it does. It costs over £8 million to run the hospice each year and only 11% of this is funded by the NHS. Giving monthly helps secure the hospice into the future, bringing continuous comfort, care, and much-needed and deserved joy to someone at the end of life, as well as support for their loved ones. It is something our Moment Makers should be very proud of.

Jan and Colin's story

"A great husband, father and friend. That’s how Colin would have wanted to be remembered. And he is, he was so loved. He was wise too, he really cared and wanted to help people. Colin was a remarkable man.

By donating monthly as a Moment Maker, I am honouring Colin and the care he was given at Oakhaven. I am helping others receive that same compassion and kindness. Ensuring other people’s final moments are filled with as much love and peace as Colin’s were."

Become an Oakhaven Moment Maker

Oakhaven is so much more than a place where people go at the end of their life. It is the hope, joy, strength, resilience, support, and comfort that our patients and their families deserve - both at the hospice and in homes throughout our community.

Your gift could be creating a special moment for a couple, enabling them to spend their nights sleeping side by side in our Inpatient Unit. Your moment could be filled with laughter, often heard in our Day Hospice, or holding the hand of someone who is taking their last breaths. You could be providing the time needed to ensure someone is safe and comfortable in their home. Or allowing for someone’s beloved pet to come into the hospice to say goodbye.

It’s the little everyday moments that are so precious at the end of someone’s life. You will be turning the ordinary into the extraordinary.

How your regular donations can help

£6 a month

helps transport patients to and from our Day Hospice where they can enjoy a social day, shared laughter, a hearty lunch and relax for a while.

£12 a month

gives those coping with a diagnosis or following the death of a loved one the opportunity to work through their emotions with one of our counsellors.

£36 a month

brings the hospice to people’s homes, where our community teams support our community, allowing patients to remain independent at home as long as possible.

The need for Oakhaven’s services will always be there and we hope you are a Moment Maker for as long as you can be. However, it is easy to cancel your direct debit at any time.

Your gift is so important. It is making every moment matter. Thank you.
