The Oakhaven Walk 2025

Saturday 17th May

The Oakhaven Walk, sponsored by Pennyfarthing

The Oakhaven Walk is sponsored by Pennyfarthing Homes.

Registration for our 2025 walk has now closed.

Our fundraising walk will be taking place on Saturday 17th May 2025

Walk one of three distances to Oakhaven Hospice, along beautiful seafront coastal paths: approximately 26 miles from Sandbanks, 14 miles from Mudeford or 8 miles from Barton-on-Sea.

We are grateful to Pennyfarthing Homes for sponsoring the Oakhaven Walk.

Entry has now closed

The Walk is now full and unfortunately no more spaces can be offered.

Your entry registration fee helps us to cover the costs of the event. We ask that each entrant commits to raising in sponsorship or donating a suggested minimum of £150 for Oakhaven Hospice. All funds raised will help us continue providing palliative care and support to patients and their families throughout the New Forest, Totton and Waterside. Our support is provided free of charge, both at the hospice itself and in patients' homes, helping local people at the most difficult of times.

Your registration includes:

  • A technical T-shirt to wear on the day
  • Snacks and drinks for all distances
  • Lunch for those walking 26 miles
  • A medal at the finish line
  • Refreshments at the finish line

If you have any queries, please email events@oakhavenhospice.co.uk

Your sponsorship will make a difference

In 2024, our Oakhaven Walk raised a brilliant £110,000 for Oakhaven Hospice, thanks to the sponsorship raised by our wonderful walkers! And this year we hope to raise even more...

With only 11% of our costs funded by the government, every penny raised in sponsorship or donated makes a difference, enabling us to continue providing exceptional care, comfort and support to patients facing end of life and their loved ones, both within the Hospice itself and in patients' homes throughout our New Forest, Totton and Waterside communities.

We therefore ask that every Oakhaven Walker commits to raising a suggested minimum of £150.

To fundraise online, you could set up a JustGiving page - click here to get started. If you prefer a traditional paper sponsor form, you can download a sponsor form here.

Thank you for your support.

The Oakhaven Walk - Frequently asked questions

Do you provide transport to the start of the walk at Sandbanks?

Yes, if you are taking on the 26-mile route, you can pay extra to get a coach transfer from Oakhaven Hospice to Sandbanks. The coach will depart Oakhaven Hospice at 7:15am and aim to reach Sandbanks by 8am, so you can collect your t-shirt and get ready to set off at 8:30am.

Please note: If you choose the 14 or 8-mile options, you will need to make your own way to your start points.

Is there a minimum age requirement to enter the event?

Yes, the minimum age is 8 years old, and children aged between 8 and 15 years old must be accompanied by an adult.

Is the route signposted?

Yes. You are following the coastal path but we have marshals and signage at key points to direct you.

What do I need to wear?

Good, well-worn-in walking boots or shoes are recommended, along with a light rucksack to bring waterproofs just in case!

Are refreshments provided on route?

Yes, there are check-in points at Mudeford Quay and Barton-on-Sea where water is provided as well as a comfort stop.

At Mudeford, food and refreshments will be provided for the 26-mile walkers (the halfway point).

Are dogs allowed on the walk?

Yes, dogs are permitted on the walk. Please obey local bylaws and keep your dog on a lead where indicated.

Do I need to keep up with everyone?

No, everyone will walk at their own pace - why not enlist a friend to chat to? The achievement is finishing, it is not a race. If you’re not used to walking we highly recommend that you train and get some miles into your legs between registering for the actual walk.

When will I receive my t-shirt?

You will receive you t-shirt on the day of the walk at registration.
