Our Patron
The Honourable Mary Montagu-Scott DL became Patron of Oakhaven Hospice on 30th November 2021, taking over from Lady Mary Fagan LG DCVO who served in this role since the Hospice's early days.
Board of Trustees
Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Melville Kendal has been a member of Hampshire County Council for over 25 years and is an independent Asset Management consultant. He was appointed to the Board in March 2015 and previously stood as Chairman of the Finance Committee. Mel lives locally in Milford-on-Sea.
Jeremy has worked and lived in the Lymington area all of his life and through his business and personal contacts he has a great contact base with extensive local knowledge. Jeremy was appointed to the Board in July 2011 and is Vice Chairman, as well as being a member of the Trustee Recruitment Committee.
Amanda is a retired coach and consultant with extensive experience of growth businesses. Amanda has an MBA from The Open University Business School as well as coaching qualifications to underpin her interest and experience in the people aspects of successful organisations. She joined the Board of Trustees in March 2022.
Adrian Bunston is a retired Chartered Accountant, who lives locally in Milford-on-Sea. He joined the Board in December 2017. As well as being a Board member, Adrian is also the Chairman of the Finance Committee.
Lindy set up and ran a London-based business specialising in the recruitment of personnel with language skills. Lindy is currently a director of a commercial and residential property development company. She is also a director of two hotel and hospitality companies. She offers a general business approach to the challenges and opportunities faced by Oakhaven. Lindy joined the Oakhaven Board of Trustees in May 2019. Apart from being a Board member, Lindy is a member of the Trustee Recruitment Committee and is also a Director of Oakhaven Care (Oakhaven’s domiciliary care social enterprise).
Jeremy Payne has been Director of Fundraising at the Game & Wildlife Conservation Trust since 2017 having held similar roles in the past with Samaritans, Leonard Cheshire and Shooting Star Children’s Hospice. He lives locally with his wife Megan, a special needs teacher and has two children at university. He is a regular spectator at New Milton Rugby Club and can often be found deep in the rough on local golf courses. Jeremy joined the Board in February 2021 and is also a member of the Finance Committee.
Peter Dunford is the Chairman of Dunford Construction Limited and other family companies and is the third generation of his family-owned business. He has over 65 years’ experience in the Building and Development industry with Dunford’s. Peter was appointed as a Trustee in September 2009 and is our longest-serving member of the Board. Peter is also a member of the Finance Committee.
Dr Rachel Anderson has been a respiratory consultant at Lymington Hospital since 2010. Both her professional and personal esteem for hospice care led her to take on a role as a Trustee for Oakhaven in April 2019. Apart from being a Board member, Rachel is Chair of the Clinical Governance Committee.
Sarah Jane Thompson's nursing career started in oncology at The Royal Marsden and later as a Health Visitor she took a special interest in Care of the Dying. She has held directorship roles for over 12 years, including Southwestern Ambulance Service, Portsmouth Hospital, and South Central Ambulance Service, in all patient safety has been paramount when considering new initiatives or financial decisions.
Karen Whelan's career of over 30 years in the corporate world includes working across the chemical and energy sectors. Her expertise is in organisation design, business improvement coaching and analytics. Karen joined Oakhaven as a volunteer before becoming a trustee in early 2025. She chairs both the people and development committees.
Jayne had a diverse career as a highly experienced Big 4 accounting firm partner, specialising in tax and advising boards and executives on driving financial performance through people and culture. Since retiring as a partner she built a portfolio of Board advisory roles and branched out into charitable work including being a Parish Councillor for Milford and Keyhaven, Vice Chair for the Milford Health Hub (League of Friends), and Trustee for a medium sized local charity which provides support and independent living for adults with learning difficulties.
Peter Jones is a retired bank and insurance executive with over 40 years of experience working in Europe, North America, Asia and Africa. Since retiring he has undertaken various consultancy work and, more recently, has been Treasurer for various charities. He lives locally in Lower Pennington.
Anthony is a qualified accountant and company secretary and has lived in the local area for more than 30 years. He worked in manufacturing, service and contracting industries before spending the latter part of his senior executive career in the water industry. In the past few years, Anthony has held a number of non-executive positions including the Chair of a trade association and a pension fund.
