Working for us FAQs

Clinical Team holding cards spelling out Thank you
Does Oakhaven have the same job banding as the NHS for its clinical staff? Expand

No, we have our own banding system for clinicians but we try where possible to benchmark against comparable roles including Agenda for Change. We review salaries annually with any adjustments effective in April.

What staff benefits does Oakhaven offer? Expand
  • Beautiful location with extensive grounds
  • Excellent education programme and opportunities for further training
  • Contributory Pension Scheme (option to continue NHS Pension)
  • Competitive salary
  • Generous holiday entitlement
  • Life Assurance
  • Health Cash Plan
  • Employee Assistance Programme
  • Clinical Supervision
  • Opportunity to be part of a great team
  • Excellent catering facilities offering hot meals, snacks and sandwiches
  • Wellbeing Days
  • Free parking
Does Oakhaven have a pension scheme? Expand

Yes we offer two schemes: Staff coming from the NHS may be able to retain membership of the NHS Pension Scheme and continue to contribute to their existing plan whilst working at Oakhaven.

All other staff have the option to join our second scheme provided by Scottish Widows. This is a contributory scheme, with staff making a 5% contribution and the Hospice matching this contribution.

What are the opportunities for career development at Oakhaven? Expand

We are extremely supportive of training and development for all staff, both to enhance skills in their current roles and to further their career with us. We run internal courses as well as funding professional qualifications, and individuals have regular opportunities to discuss their personal development with their managers.

What is the holiday entitlement at Oakhaven? Expand

The entitlement starts at 36 days per year (including bank holidays) for full time staff. This increases to a maximum of 38 days per annum after 10 years service.

What is ‘Supervision’? Expand

A large number of our staff work in a highly emotional environment and often benefit from the opportunity to talk through their experiences with a more senior colleague, reflecting on positives and learning from concerns. Staff have the opportunity to partake in individual or group supervision and can choose someone they feel comfortable with who is usually not their line manager.

Are there part-time opportunities? Expand

Yes, in almost every department we offer both full and part-time roles. Keep your eyes on current vacancies on our website for all job opportunities.
