Oakhaven Hospice needs your support now more than ever

We build partnerships with socially conscious organisations that care about making a difference to the community. We are hugely grateful to the businesses that help us to raise thousands of pounds every year, so that we can continue to provide free palliative care to families throughout the New Forest, Totton and Waterside.

You won’t have to look far to find someone who has been touched by Oakhaven; many of our donors and fundraisers are motivated by first-hand experience of the care we have provided to a loved one.

Whilst donations are very important, supporting Oakhaven is not just about giving money; it can be about supporting events, assisting in obtaining resources or using your contacts to help our message reach the right people. Help us to make every moment matter for more people.

Choosing Oakhaven Hospice as your 'Charity of the Year' means that not only will you be helping your local hospice raise the vital funds it needs, but you will also be giving your staff something to work towards together.

There are many different ways your business could support Oakhaven, including team fundraising activities, volunteering, payroll giving, matched funding, the Oakhaven Lottery and sponsorship.

A dedicated Oakhaven fundraiser will guide and support you during our partnership. We can speak with your staff about the charity and how we can help each other.  At Oakhaven we are very aware that a partnership works both ways and we are here to help support your business and colleagues.

In addition, we will support your fundraising with merchandise, publicity, fundraising ideas and a host of PR opportunities through print, web and social media.

Register for our £100 Business Challenge Expand

Can your business turn £100 into much, much more?

The Beaverbook £100 Business Challenge gives business teams the opportunity to use £100 to generate as much money as possible for Oakhaven Hospice. In 2021 the challenge is taking place between 1st June and 29th October, with an awards event on 4th November.

Your team will receive £100 from the Beaverbrook Foundation, and then we challenge your team to increase this through fundraising over the five-month period to support the work of Oakhaven Hospice.

How you choose to fundraise is up to you! A range of fundraising merchandise will be available and our dedicated Business Community Fundraiser will encourage and support your business team throughout the five-month challenge.

Sponsor an Oakhaven event, activity or service Expand

Sponsorship is a great way to support Oakhaven.

Throughout the year we have different sponsorship opportunities to suit budgets and businesses of all sizes.

Sponsorship typically offsets costs and boosts the income of fundraising activities and ranges from pledging a contribution to a campaign or event to overall sponsorship of a project. Companies can also sponsor ‘in kind’ whereby they provide or source the means or resources to facilitate a fundraising initiative.

In fact, many sponsors promote events to their own customers or client base to extend the reach and awareness of Oakhaven's activity.

We invite our sponsors to have input into the projects that you support, although this level of involvement is optional.

A number of sponsorship opportunities are available in 2021:

  • Become a headline sponsor for one of our many events
  • Sponsor an aspect of an event such as t-shirts, medals, publications
  • Sponsor a month in the annual Oakhaven Calendar
  • Sponsor essential equipment such as the Hospice van

In return for sponsorship, Oakhaven will provide an extensive marketing package - a fantastic way to promote your business to the local community.

Give as you earn with payroll giving Expand

Tax-efficient, regular giving through PAYE.

If you have employees, consider enabling them to make a regular donation to Oakhaven Hospice through PAYE. Payroll Giving, also known as Workplace Giving or Give-As-You-Earn, is a simple and tax-efficient way of supporting Oakhaven.

Payroll Giving is a great way for companies to enhance their corporate social responsibility (CSR) and their commitment to the causes that their employees care about. It is quick and easy to set up and administer with virtually no setup costs.

What's more, companies can increase the value of their employees' contribution through matched giving, whereby they match an employee's donation by a chosen percentage.

Employees choose the amount they’d like to donate and then each payday their gift will be deducted automatically from their gross salary (after National Insurance but before tax).

This means the tax they would have paid on their donation is also given to Oakhaven Hospice.

If you are interested in setting up payroll giving for your business visit https://www.gov.uk/payroll-giving where you will be directed to contact an approved Payroll Giving agency to set up the scheme. Make deductions each time you run payroll before tax but after National Insurance. Send the donations to your agency and then they’ll pass them on to Oakhaven Hospice.

A £10 donation for a basic rate taxpayer (20%) will only actually cost £8 or just £6 for higher rate taxpayers (40%)!

Here is a guide of what would be deducted from salary and what Oakhaven Hospice would receive:

Encourage employees with matched giving Expand

Match your employee's fundraising efforts!

Increase employee engagement by matching the funds your employees raise for Oakhaven Hospice!

Businesses can increase the value of their employees' contribution through matched giving (also known as match funding), whereby they match an employee's donation by a chosen percentage. Not only does this inspire staff to give more, but it also boosts morale within the workplace and raises your company’s ethical profile.

Some companies offer this on a pound-for-pound basis, while others will specify the amount they’re prepared to give.

For example if your employees carry out fundraising activities for Oakhaven Hospice this is how you can boost their donation.

Take part in the Oakhaven Lottery Expand

Play from £1 a week for a weekly chance to win £1,000!

The Oakhaven Lottery is a quick and easy way for employees to support your organisation's Corporate Social Responsibility policy.

By promoting the Oakhaven Lottery to your employees, their regular support will give them a chance win our weekly £1000 weekly jackpot or one of 17 other prizes ranging from £250 to £10.

Net proceeds from the lottery all come to Oakhaven – so you’ll be contributing directly to our enormous mission to provide end of life care, comfort and support, free of charge to all who need it, at the most difficult of times.

Collect donations with a green pot by your till!

Hosting an Oakhaven green collection pot can make a huge difference to our fundraising.

In 2019 our familiar green pots raised over £27,000 for Oakhaven Hospice. We have over 300 pots in the local area which people regularly fill up with loose change for us.

“For a number of years, we’ve supported Oakhaven Hospice’s Family Fun Day. We are also the lead sponsor for Oakhaven’s annual Santa Dash, which starts just outside our office on Lymington High Street. The team suggested that we should don Santa suits and take part in the run and raise even more money with an office raffle of prizes such as theatre tickets. This has all now become a bit of a staff tradition and every year we have lots of fun together raising money for a charity that is very close to our hearts. 

“Many of our clients’ lives have been touched by Oakhaven, we hear first-hand how the quality of service and compassionate care provided free of charge to patients is exemplary. And we understand how vital our hospice is to its community.  Yet we know that the cost of running Oakhaven’s services is vast and that to secure their future they need every penny that we – and other businesses like us - can raise and provide for them.
