Charity shop donations
Every shop donation helps us to make every moment matter for patients and families under Oakhaven's care. Thank you.
Many thanks for donating items to Oakhaven Hospice charity shops
We are grateful to everyone who generously donates bags of good-quality preloved items for our shops and online stores to sell. Our retail shops and online stores are an important source of income for Oakhaven Hospice. The money raised in our shops helps to fund the specialist care and support to our patients and their loved ones when they need it most.
What can be donated to our charity shops?
We are grateful for any good-quality donations you can donate as our charity shops rely on your good-quality donated items. Unfortunately, there are certain items we are unable to accept due to Health and Safety regulations or lack of public demand. We only make money from things that we are able to re-sell and we have to pay to deal with donated items which are broken, damaged or heavily used.
Last year we had to spend over £20,000 on waste disposal, which was predominately unsaleable donations. If we are unable to accept large items for donation that is the reason why - if we can sell it we will take it!
Please check the lists below before bringing in your donations.
For large items, please check with us before bringing them - we may not be able to accept your item as we are trying to limit our costs of disposal.
- Ladies' and men’s clothes, shoes and accessories
- Children's clothes, shoes and accessories
- Ornaments, china and glassware in good, clean condition
- Modern paperback books
- Vintage and retro items
- Toys
- Computers
- Unwanted gifts
- Gas appliances
- White electrical goods
- Small electrical appliances
- Furniture with fire labels if applicable
- Videos and cassettes
- Safety helmets
- Child car seats
- Toys without a CE label

- Upholstered furniture without a fire label or no longer in a clean sellable condition
- Items that are broken or not in clean condition
Please note: occasionally we need to limit the volume of donations to ensure we have sufficient staff and volunteers to sort through the items. (Could you help? Volunteers play a vital role in the success of our charity shops and we are always looking for additional help. If you could give the gift of time, find out more information about being an Oakhaven Volunteer.
