Charity shop donations

Lymington Oakhaven shop

Many thanks for donating items to Oakhaven Hospice charity shops

We are grateful to everyone who generously donates bags of good-quality preloved items for our shops and online stores to sell. Our retail shops, online store and furniture outlet centre are an important source of income for Oakhaven Hospice. Every penny raised is used to fund the specialist care and support to our patients and their loved ones when they need it most.

What can be donated to our charity shops?

We are grateful for any good-quality donations you can donate as our charity shops rely on your good-quality donated items. Unfortunately, there are certain items we are unable to accept due to Health and Safety regulations or lack of public demand. We only make money from things that we are able to re-sell and we have to pay to deal with donated items which are broken, damaged or heavily used.

Did you know? Last year we had to spend over £20,000 on waste collections, which were predominately unsaleable donations. If we are unable to accept large items for donation that is the reason why - if we can sell it we will take it!

Please check the lists below before bringing in your donations.

charity shop can donate
  • Ladies' and men’s clothes, shoes and accessories
  • Children's clothes, shoes and accessories
  • Ornaments, china and glassware in good, clean condition
  • Modern paperback books
  • Vintage and retro items
  • Toys
  • Duvets and pillows
  • Computers
  • CDs and DVDs
  • Unwanted gifts
  • Gas appliances
  • White electrical goods
  • Small electrical appliances
  • Furniture with fire labels if applicable
charity shop cannot donate
  • Videos and cassettes
  • Safety helmets
  • Child car seats
  • Toys without a CE label
  • Sharp knives and weapons
  • Upholstered furniture without a fire label or no longer in a clean sellable condition

Please note: occasionally we need to limit the volume of donations to ensure we have sufficient staff and volunteers to sort through the items. (Could you help? Volunteers play a vital role in the success of our charity shops and we are always looking for additional help. If you could give the gift of time, find out more information in our volunteering section.)
