Oakhaven volunteers contribute to the Hospice in a huge variety of ways, from bereavement support and patient-facing roles to retail and administrative support. The attached Role List gives a fuller explanation of the various roles. Have a think about which of our volunteer roles sounds right for you, then mark your preference on the application form. But keep an open mind! The best fit for you may be something you’ve never even considered.

Once we’ve received your application, you’ll be invited to come in for a chat with the Volunteer Services team. This conversation will help us understand what you’re looking for, where your skills lie, and whether a suitable volunteer position may be available for you.
If you are successful in your application, you will be able to attend a number of in-house training sessions, as well as role-specific training which will have you working alongside and learning from an experienced volunteer mentor. You will also need to complete a DBS (formerly CRB) check if you’re applying for a patient-facing role.
