Hospice Care Week visit
The community nursing team at Oakhaven Hospice is looking forward to a visit by the Rt Hon Sir Desmond Swayne TD, on Friday 24th November.
The MP for New Forest West will be visiting Oakhaven as part of a Hospice Care Week initiative by Hospice UK to raise awareness of the important work carried out at charitable hospices across the UK.
Over 40,000 people work in hospices in the UK, providing care and specialist support to 300,000 people every year. Their work providing essential palliative and end of life care reduces the pressure on the NHS, yet hospice workers are often not included in national and system-level workforce policy.
The Rt Hon Sir Desmond Swayne TD MP said, “Oakhaven Hospice fully deserves the tremendous reputation it has for its care, together with the gratitude and affection and support of people throughout the New Forest, Totton and Waterside.
“I am really looking forward to my visit to Oakhaven to meet some of their magnificent team and to gain a better understanding of the care and support provided to patients and their loved ones.”
