A team of fifteen from Waterside Health Centre will be running for Oakhaven Hospice in the ABP Southampton Run on Sunday 6 April 2025.

The mixed team from the Red and Green Practice includes administrative staff, receptionists, health care assistants, nurses and doctors. Each runner is stepping out of their comfort zone to raise much-needed funds for Oakhaven, some tackling their first-ever race and others taking on a marathon challenge.

Six will be running the 5km distance, five will be running 10km, three will be taking on the half marathon, and one will be doing the full marathon.

The team is raising money for Oakhaven because they consider the services provided by their local hospice to be invaluable, both to medical colleagues and to the many patients from The Red and Green Practice.

In particular, the Red and Green Team hopes to raise awareness amongst their community that only 11% of Oakhaven’s running costs are covered by the government, leaving 89% to be raised through fundraising at events such as this.

Every penny you raise helps our specialist teams to provide vital palliative and end-of-life care for patients and support for their families and loved ones. At any time, Oakhaven is providing compassionate care and support for over 450 patients in their own homes as well as in the hospice, free of charge.
