"I'm proud to have pledged a gift in my will for Oakhaven"
"Oakhaven Hospice was such a welcoming and inclusive place - we instantly felt like part of the family there. Oakhaven provided the peace and calm that both Steve and I needed, and with the support of all the incredible nurses, we were able to make the most of every moment we had together in those final weeks.
"If we all leave a gift in our will, no matter how big or small, our support will secure the future of the Hospice."
Types of gifts
Every gift, no matter the size, helps fund 24/7 expert care and support for local people in their homes throughout the New Forest, Totton and the Waterside, and at our hospice building in Lymington.
A share of your estate
Also known as a residuary gift, this is a percentage of your estate after other commitments have been met. Residuary gifts keep pace with inflation and are an effective way to divide the value of an estate between a number of people and causes. This can be 1% to 100% depending on your personal circumstances. Even 1% to Oakhaven Hospice can make a difference.
A fixed amount
Also called a pecuniary gift, this is a specific sum of money left to Oakhaven Hospice. It can be as large or small as you wish. It is worth noting pecuniary gifts can devalue over time due to inflation, so it is worth reviewing your will regularly.
A specific item
This could be property, jewellery, shares, or anything of value you’d like to donate. It is wise to take professional advice to ensure every gift meets your wishes. If you do not have a solicitor who can help you please contact us and we can supply a list of local solicitors who regularly draft wills.
It is highly likely that a gift to Oakhaven Hospice will attract inheritance tax savings – but again, take professional advice. You might save £400 inheritance tax for every £1000 you leave us.
